Our Priests
A History of Parish Priests at the Parish Learn about the dedicated priests who have served our community since 1996.
Fr Simon Lobon CSSp 1996-2000 was appointed as the first Parish priest fully dedicated to the Parish. He was succeeded by Fr Gregory Mallya.CSSp 2000-2002 stayed for less than a year and he was succeeded by Fr Tom McDonald CSSp 2002-2005 who had already returned to Kenya and was appointed to other duties. It was during his time that the Community Centre was built. He played a big role in securing funds from overseas. After him came Fr Gabriel Kitira CSSp 2005-2009 who was then succeeded by Fr George Njoroge CSSp 2009-2014. It was during Fr Njoroge’s term that the Parish hall upstairs was modified to make him a temporary home within the Parish. It was during his tenure that the Rectory was built and we now have priests residing in the parish, he also grew the faith of Christians he got them involved in Parish, deanery, and Archdiocesan activities.
He stayed for 5 years and was transferred to a parish outside Nairobi. He was succeeded by Fr Dominic Gathuru CSSp 2014-2018 who is at the moment the superior of the Spiritan Congregation in Kenya and South Sudan. and was succeeded by Fr Patrick Mwania, who served from 2019-2023 before being appointed Vice Chancellor Designate Tangaza College, currently the parish priest is Fr. Martin K. Chepstat being assisted by Fr. Ernest Ahanotu who has been in the Parish since 2019.

Parish Priest.
On March 30th, 2025, we officially welcomed Fr Jonathan as our Parish Priest. Many of you will know him from his time as our Assistant Parish Priest, serving from August 2024 to March 2025. Before his assignment here at St. John the Evangelist, he dedicated his ministry to St. Mary’s in Lavington, Nairobi.
