YCA Charity Work at Mothers Charles Walker Children’s Home (Juja)
A Heartwarming Experience
On Saturday, September 7, 2024, our parish’s Youth Catholic Adults (YCA) embarked on a meaningful charity initiative at Mothers Charles Walker Children’s Home. This home provides shelter and rehabilitation for boys who were once street kids, aiming to reintegrate them into their families and society.
The experience was truly humbling as our young adults from St. John and the Shrine of the Apostles of Jesus interacted with these boys, aged 10-14 years old. We encouraged them to never give up on their dreams and to look forward to a brighter future.
Sharing a meal fostered a sense of togetherness, and a friendly football match showcased the boys’ impressive football skills. The YCA members also generously donated items to the home, including a mountain bike that sparked excitement among the boys.
As Jesus said, “Whatever you do, even to the least of my brothers, you do to me.” This event was a testament to the power of compassion and service.
