A Joyful Celebration: Ordination of 16 Deacons
A Moment of Grace and Gratitude
On Friday 11th October 2024, the air was filled with a palpable sense of joy and anticipation as 16 dedicated Spiritans Seminarians were ordained to the order of Diaconate. The solemn mass, conducted by the Auxiliary Bishop Simon Peter Kamomoe, was a colorful spectacle that marked a significant milestone in the lives of these men.
Understanding Christ’s Mission
In his powerful homily, Bishop Kamomoe emphasized the importance of understanding Christ’s mission. He urged the newly ordained deacons to embrace their role as men of God, called to serve their communities with humility and compassion.
Servant Leaders
The Diaconate is a calling to service. Bishop Kamomoe reminded the deacons that they are not merely leaders, but servant leaders. Their primary role is to assist the priest in the celebration of the sacraments and to serve the needs of the community.
Called to Service
The deacons come from diverse backgrounds, hailing from Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Gabon, and Kenya. Their commitment to serving the Church and their communities brought them together for this special occasion.
Office of Sanctification
The Diaconate is an office of sanctification. It is a calling to lead a holy life and to inspire others to do the same. The newly ordained deacons were reminded of the importance of their role in guiding and supporting the faithful.
A Prayer for the Newly Ordained
May the newly ordained deacons practice what they preach. May the Holy Spirit dwell in them richly, guiding them in their ministry and empowering them to serve with love and dedication.
As they embark on this new chapter, let us pray for their continued faith and unwavering commitment to serving the Church and their communities.
