Celebrating World Marriage Day at St. John the Evangelist Holy Ghost Parish-Karen

Published by admin on

Good marriages, like the good seed in the parable, can sometimes be choked by the thorns of everyday life’s cares and worries.

This year, St. John the Evangelist Holy Ghost Parish-Karen joined the global community in commemorating World Marriage Day, a special occasion dedicated to honouring husbands and wives and the beautiful sacrament they share.

Celebrated every second Sunday of February, World Marriage Day is an outgrowth of Worldwide Marriage Encounter, an organization dedicated to helping couples enrich their marriages. Our parish community recognized this special day to uplift and celebrate the mutual sacrificial love and fidelity that embodies the marital sacrament.

The Church teaches that marriage is an “image” of the union of Christ with His Church, a profound and powerful reflection of divine love. Just as Christ gave himself for the Church, spouses are called to give themselves to one another in love and service.

On this World Marriage Day, we offered a special prayer for all married couples:

Father, we thank you for your tremendous gift of the Sacrament of Marriage. Help us to witness its glory through a life of growing intimacy. Teach us the beauty of forgiveness so we may become more and more One in Heart, Mind, and Body. Strengthen our dialogue and help us become living signs of your love. Make us grow more in love with the Church so we may renew the Body of Christ. Make us a sign of unity in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Brother. Amen.

An Everlasting Encounter

We encourage all couples to reflect on their marriage and seek ways to nurture and strengthen their bond. World Marriage Day serves as a reminder of the beauty and importance of this sacred union, and we pray that all marriages within our community may be blessed with love, joy, and lasting commitment.
