Congo’s Hopes @65: A Celebration of Faith and Unity
Published by admin on
On Sunday, June 30th, the Congolese Catholic community in Kenya gathered at St. John the Evangelist Parish to commemorate 65 years of the Democratic Republic of Congo’s independence — with hearts full of gratitude, prayer, and hope.
The celebration began with a solemn and joyful Thanksgiving Mass, led in the spirit of unity and peace. The liturgy was marked by vibrant choir music, and special prayers for the people of the DRC, both in the homeland and across the world.
Reflecting on the theme of the day, participants meditated on the words of Colossians 3:15-16:
“Let the peace of Christ control your hearts; let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.”
As a parish community, we are honored to continue welcoming and walking with the Congolese faithful who have made Kenya their second home. Together, we celebrate not only a nation’s independence, but a shared journey of faith, family, and peace.
