The air was filled with the scent of fresh palms and the spirited sound of “Hosanna!” as our parish community gathered to commemorate Palm Sunday, marking Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem and the solemn beginning of Holy Week.

A Triumphant Procession

This year’s celebration was particularly special as we were joined by Auxiliary Bishop-elect Obed Muriuki. Leading the faithful in a vibrant procession, Bishop-elect Muriuki mirrored the biblical entry into the Holy City, as parishioners of all ages waved palm branches in a powerful display of faith and devotion.

During his homily, Bishop-elect Muriuki offered a stirring reflection on the true meaning of the day. He reminded us that while the crowds cheered for a King, Jesus arrived on a humble donkey—a stark contrast to earthly power.

“Palm Sunday is a reminder that the path to true victory is not paved with pride, but requires deep humility and sacrifice,” he shared.

He encouraged the congregation to emulate the humility and passion of Christ, urging us to carry that same spirit of service into our daily lives and our interactions with one another.

Looking Toward Easter

As the liturgy shifted from the joyful “Hosanna” to the somber reading of the Passion, the day set a profound stage for the week ahead. Palm Sunday serves as the gateway to the Triduum, inviting us to walk alongside Jesus through His:

  • Suffering: In the Garden of Gethsemane and before Pilate.

  • Death: The ultimate sacrifice on the Cross at Calvary.

  • Resurrection: The glorious victory over death on Easter Sunday.

We invite all parishioners to stay connected and participate fully in our upcoming Holy Week services as we journey together toward the joy of the Resurrection.

May this Holy Week be a time of deep reflection and spiritual renewal for us all.
